The wedding itself the following day was a two and a half hour bus trip from Quito. It took place at Hacienda Pinsaqui, a lovely little ranch just outside Otavalo, a town renowned for its local crafts market, which we didn't have a chance to visit.

Rob and Maria, the bride and groom.

One of several musical ensembles at the wedding. Unfortunately they really weren't very good.
Here the guests gathered for the actual ceremony, conducted entirely in Spanish.
The groom rode up on a white horse.
The next ensemble, playing for the reception line and toasts.
The couple being toasted.

Lunch was fabulous. Here was the appetizer.
A "palate-cleanser" was served in an ice bowl.
The fantastic dessert, a meringue box with various white fruits in the inside and various colorful fruit sauces on the outside. On top was a "physalis" which we'd just learned about in France and Switzerland a few months earlier, also called a "ground cherry".
Dancing after lunch to another ensemble, a lively dance band.
Sun and a rainbow on a nearby hillside.
Rob's band takes over the dance band's instruments for an REM cover song, sung partly in Spanish.
The bride having a good time.
Digging a hole in the sidewalk to install the fireworks structure.
The next ensemble, which played during the incredible fireworks display.
One of several photographers at the wedding with a digital SLR camera (one photographer had two of them!)
The fireworks structure, which was pushed around in a circle by a guy standing underneath it.
Running through the sparks.
