South Africa: South Coast and Swaziland

We drove along the south coast of South Africa from Cape Town through Knysna and Port Elizabeth and Durban, then up the eastern coast towards Swaziland. In Swaziland we stayed at a little game preserve.

In Durban, we stayed in a family's house which becomes a bed and breakfast, the Thatch Inn, on demand. They were very friendly and accommodating.

The Aviemore restaurant in Port Elizabeth served us a delightful lunch even though no other customers showed up. Martin Potgeiter, the son of the owner, pours some wine (and let us drink an older vintage by the glass).

Outside the game preserves, Swaziland is fairly dreary -- there are lots of mines and there is lots of poverty.
