Fatehpur Sikri is about 15 miles away from Agra. Fatehpur is a palace complex built by Akbar the Great, the third Mughal emperor. He was known for his tolerance of other religions, and the palace complex included a palace for a Hindu wife, one for a Christian wife, and one for a Buddhist wife, three out of 5000 of his wives. The complex ultimately was abandoned because it was too far from water. Sikri is an adjacent mosque with two tombs, and lots of merchants selling stuff.
