Angkor Thom

Angkor Thom is a large walled ancient city near Angkor Wat. The highlight is Bayon, a temple with many large smiling faces carved into its towers.

All the official English-speaking tourist guides were booked up the first day we were there, which was pretty disappointing. We met this guide inside Bayon who knew lots of stuff, but he didn't want to leave with us because he'd be harrassed by the police.
