Australia: Tasmania

Tasmania is a beautiful island with a fairly small population. We found lots of interesting scenery, flowers and trees, and animals, gracious hosts. and good food.

The Tahune Airwalk, promoted as a walk through the forest canopy by the lumber companies. Unfortunately it's not in the area with the most old growth, and there weren't scads of exotic birds or anything. But it's way off the ground, and there are good views.

Driving around the southeast part of Tasmania reminded us of Lopez Island in Washington.

Cradle Mountain, the northern end of the 53-mile Overland Track, the most popular bushwalk in Australia. We walked up to the rim of the mountain around Dove Lake.
