We took a ferry from Belfast to the Isle of Man, where we spent a day. The next night we took another ferry to Liverpool, spent the next day driving to the southern coast, and spent a couple of days seeing Stonehenge, Salisbury, the Cerne Abbas Giant, and the coast itself.
Isle of Man
The Isle of Man is a pretty island with rolling hills. It's part of the United Kingdom and is located between Ireland and Great Britain. Its most popular tourist attraction is TT motorcycle racing on a scenic cross-country course. We take pains to avoid such fests. More pictures...
Stonehenge
We arrived at Stonehenge the evening of the Summer Solstice. Normally you can only see it from several yards away, but on the night of the solstice they open it up so the Druids can have their pagan rituals. Apparently it is quite a party and attracts hippies and ravers of all ages. We would like to have gone, but we were worn out after finding another place to stay after discovering no one home at the B&B where we had a reservation. More pictures...
Salisbury Cathedral
The nearby town of Salisbury has an immense Episcopal cathedral. More pictures...
