Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan, the fifth of the Mughal emperors, as a mausoleum for his second wife who died during childbirth. It's still one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. The main structure is in the middle of a large square walled area, with an outbuilding in the middle of each side.

There are always lots of visitors.

For some reason, visiting high-school and college guys and other tourists wanted to have their pictures taken with us. I'm not sure what we represented to them.

The walls of the Taj Mahal were originally inlaid with semi-precious stones, but these were all stolen and have been replaced by plastic replicas.

One of the outbuildings is a mosque. (There's an identical building on the other side, for symmetry only -- it's unused.)
